"Go Cougars"
The family of award winning Newnan photographer Paul Conlan has generously donated the only signed image of Paul’s work: “Go Cougars!” (Only two prints of this image exist and the attached is the only signed print.) The print will be auctioned off at the closing reception for the Simple Pleasures Photography Competition on Tuesday, October 29th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Centre for Performing & Visual Arts of Coweta County located on Lower Fayetteville Road. The opening bid for the print is $200 (which is what Mr. Conlan charged for his unframed prints during his lifetime). “Go Cougars!” has been beautifully framed through the generosity of Fine Lines Art & Framing, www.finelinesartandframing.com . All proceeds from the winner of the auction go toward the Paul Conlan Memorial Scholarship Fund for Coweta County high school students administered by the Coweta Community Foundation. For more information about Simple Pleasures, Paul Conlan and the scholarship fund, please see www.simplepleasuresfoto.com.

Fall Art Walk - Friday Night - September 20th
Come join us for the Newnan Art Walk
tonight in downtown. 5pm
Our featured artist is Newnan's own
Martin Pate
Martin graduated with honors from Ringling School of Art in 1981. His figurative works won acclaim in the Sarasota area by such notables as Thornton Utz who declared a life drawing by Martin as the best work in the 1981 student show.
Martin's personal paintings and drawings have won awards in local, regional and national shows.
"The models I use are people that I know. Often, I use their personality as a starting point for a painting's theme. Sometimes a theme will evolve as the painting progresses."
The observation of form and personality is a continuing source of inspiration.

To the eye the wine introduces itself with a straw-yellow color with tinges of lime green. It has full and fruity aromas which are reminiscent of pineapple and bananas, and exudes floral notes. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, luscious, and soft.

Newnan's Own 'David Boyd Jr' With Us at Fine Lines
Painter David Boyd, Jr. traveled to Florida's Forgotten Coast earlier this month for the QuickDraw event held during the Great American Paint Out. The Great American Paint Out is one of the east coast's premier plein air, or open air, painting events. The full ten-day Paint Out is an invitation-only event and only the top painters in the country make the short list; however, they host a one-day QuickDraw competition that is open to all artists who enjoy painting in plein air. For 2 years, Boyd has been going down for the QuickDraw in hopes of securing a future invitation to the full event.
In a QuickDraw competition artists check in, have canvases stamped, find a spot and subject to paint, and wait for the timed event to begin. Artists have 2 hours to complete the piece and then frame and display the piece for judging. This year, the QuickDraw was held at St. Joseph State Park near Cape San Blas, FL. To every painter's dismay, torrential rain began at the same time the QuickDraw started. While most painters elected to paint under a nearby pavilion, Boyd chose to head out into the open rain to paint. Despite having forgotten his raincoat, Boyd grabbed a trash bag to use as a raincoat and headed to the beach. In the end, Boyd was awarded as the "Best Emerging Artist" for his painting entitled "Calm" at the QuickDraw event.
This is the second national honor the local painter has received in the last year. Boyd received the "Honorable Mention" award for his piece, "Three Wise Men and a Caddy", at the American Impressionist Society's National Exhibition in Indianapolis last fall.
You can See Boyd’s work here at Fine Lines Art and Framing in downtown Newnan.

...not enough "outrageous" *
Look who came in our front door!!
There is only ONE!
Just ask him!!
"Each morning when I awake, I experience again a supreme pleasure
- that of being Salvador Dali." - Salvador Dali
We were honored to have been entrusted with framing a SET of FOUR Dali Limited Edition Lithographs with signatures!!!
They were similar in mood, "madness"** , and materials, but such a variance in coloring. So how to bring them together as a set?
Celia masterfully chose a shell bisque top mat and keyed into each piece's dark tones for the inner mat. And the frame? Larson-Juhl Academie in Imperial Silver brings a warm radiance. Classic with a touch of contemporary.

From Wax Sculpting to Bronze Casting
UPCOMING DEMO
by Chuck Kidwell
While hiking in the Smokey Mountains as a young man, Chuck visited a gallery of fine woodcarving in Gatlinburg,TN.
He was so stirred that he went out and bought 3 carving tools, cut down a tree and taught himself
to carve!
Through his work at Inferno Art Foundry http://infernoartfoundry.com in Union City he has learned to scuplt in clay and wax and create bronze castings through the traditional "Lost Wax" process. Chuck has
created well researched historical figures.
He has also enjoyed creating a delightful animated series of the backyard adventures of Traveler and Wee... mouse and his friend.
Beautiful portraits in wood, bronze or cold cast available:
Come and see and hear a master craftsman!
